WHAt Does it mean to live in an environment?

we all live in places differently. lets say you give ten people an empty bedroom, all ten of those people are going to use their creative freedom and expression to decorate and “live” in the space differently. with this project, i wanted to highlight how i chose to live in my dorm during the summer of 2022. living in a place other than my home was weird but i had to make it my own somehow — i wanted to make it feel more like what home was to me.

this project came to life simply because i had no idea what i wanted to do for my final project at socapa 2022 (school of creative and performing arts). my only thought was that i wanted to do something that required as little interaction with others as possible. i wanted to do something completely independent. one of the beautiful parts of doing projects/bodies of work is that sometimes more meaning starts to unfold as its being made. originally i started shooting these “twinsies” photos with the intent of showing the different ways i have lived in the space i was staying in. overtime, it morphed into something deeper; the different sides of my personality. the longer you look the more you can discover about my interests, hobbies, loves, etc. a lot about me can be inferred without the need to say anything.
